As we approach the Independence Day Holiday we wanted to remind you that although most people enjoy fireworks, most dogs and cats do not. July 5 is the busiest day of the year in animal shelters because dogs and cats have run off because they were spooked due to the loud noises of the fireworks. Please do your part to make sure that your pet is safe on this July 4th so that they are safe with YOU on July 5th.
Head to Petsmart in Florence today, June 20, from 12-2 to meet this adorable litter of sisters. We have never had such a striking litter! Remember, right now all kitten adoption fees are lowered to $75 AND if you adopt one kitten we will waive the fee for the second. Please stop by and say hi today!
We have lots and lots of cats and kttens waiting for their PURRFECT furever homes. Kitten season hit us hard this year and all we find ourselves wondering why people don't spay and neuter their cats. But, regardless of what people do and don't do, we have made it our mission to find all these cats loving and wonderful homes. To help them, we are running a few cat/kitten promotions for a limited time.
First, we are reducing adoption fees on all adult cats to $50 and all kittens to $75. This fee includes all shots, combo tests, spay/neuter surgery and microchip. Second, if you adopt one cat or kitten, we will WAIVE the fee on the second if you choose to adopt two. For additional information about these promotions, please email us at email@example.com. To see the amazing cats and kittens we have waiting for homes, please visit our Adoptable Pets page. Our cats thank you!
All of our animals, dogs and cats, are all microchipped with a 24 Hour PetWatch chip before they are adopted. Although this is an added expense for us, we know it is worth it because it is a quick and easy way for shelters and vets to reunite lost pets with their owners.
According to Petfinder, Registered microchips give lost pets the best chance of returning home.
The statistics indicate that missing pets rarely make it home:
• The American Humane Association estimates over 10 million dogs and cats are lost or stolen in the U.S. every year.
• One in three pets will become lost at some point during their life.
A study published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, including 53 animal shelters across the U.S., confirmed the high rate of return of microchipped dogs and cats to their families, and the importance of microchip registration. From the study:
• Only about 22 percent of lost dogs that entered the animal shelters were reunited with their families. However, the return-to-owner rate for microchipped dogs was over 52 percent (a 238 percent increase).
• Less than 2 percent of lost cats that entered the animal shelters were reunited with their families. The return-to-owner rate for microchipped cats was dramatically higher at over 38 percent (more than 2000 percent better).
• Only 58 percent of the microchipped animals’ microchips had been registered in a database with their pet parent’s contact information.
High-tech protection can prevent heartbreak.
Enter the pet microchip — a simple, elegant product of our high-tech age. No bigger than a grain of rice or more costly than a month’s supply of pet food, a pet microchip and enrollment in a pet recovery database brings lost pets home and provides peace of mind that your beloved companion will never wander unknown.
Veterinarians encourage microchipping.
And with good reason—microchipping substantially increases the likelihood of a pet returning home by offering secure, reliable, unique and permanent identification.
So, please make sure to keep your pet's microchip information up to date so that if something does happen, they can find their way home.
Yes, we know it is a day early, but as we start to celebrate the long weekend, we would like to remind you that although many of us enjoy fireworks and the gatherings, our pets don't always enjoy either. Please take steps to keep your dogs and cats safe this holidayt weekend. Make sure they are wearing ID, take them out before fireworks may start, get them exercise beforehand, give them something to occupy them during any commotion. Remember: you need to advocate for your dog or cat, so do what you need to to keep them home and safe this holiday weekend!
We will be at the Pet Supplies Plus on Mall Road in Florence today from 12-3pm. It's a lovely day, so we will be outside waiting for you! Sheldon, Chloe and Talullah will be making an appearance. We hope to see you there!
When we adopt a dog or cat into their home, we make sure we place them in the PERFECT home. A home that will promise them forever and not just a temporary placement. We know that taking on a new dog or cat is a lot of work, so we always ask that you and your whole family be on board and be 100% certain that you can take on the financial, emotional and time commitment. As animal lovers ourselves, we know that sometimes owning a dog or cat can hard, but we can also promise that the love and loyalty that your pet will provide will be worth all the time and effort!
So, please make sure that you are ready to adopt before you make the leap! We want our animals in homes, but we want them in FUREVER homes! If you are having behavior or other issues with your dog or cat, please contact us and we can provide you with resources to help you and your furry family member so that you all can have a long and happy life together.
